Plant and Animals Essay Topic: why are some kinds of animals on the verge of extinction? Nowaday, the number of animals in the world is reducing that people is main reason. The growth of the population, the increasing needs of human life and the advancement of science and technology has affected animals. For example, people made medicines from horn of rhino, so they killed a lot of rhino result in this species going to extinct. Almost all types in the past, animals lived on earth were extinct and vanished in a natural way because of this reason or the other. One of the causes contributing to the extinction of animals is environmental change. Earth has existed for more than tens of millions of years and has a lot of changed, so the natural environment has changed. It causes which animals could not adapt. Therefore, animals disappear to spontaneously without interaction of human. For example, the dinosaurs that have ever existed on earth have become extinct long time ago because of climate change. In addition, when the number of individuals decreased leading to ecological imbalance. For example, the food of tiger is the antelope; if the number of antelope is down, the number of tiger is down too. Therefore, they extinction is inevitable. Next, the main cause of animal extinction is over-exploitation of forests. Forest is the main habitat of most species of land animals but people need wood as raw materials. So, they cut a lot of tree that makes soil erosion. According to data from wikipedia, 20,000 hectares lost every day and 47% of the forest area decreased each year. Therefore, the environment of animals was shrinking. Animals struggle to compete for living space. For example: a tree in the Amazon forest in Peru also is a haven for over 40 species (wikipedia) when people cut it off, all arboreal ants will go up another tree of ants other. It makes the weaker species will die and extinction. Finally, the most prominent cause of extinction of animals is excessive hunting by humans. Rare animals are very valuable on the market. Most of them are used as food, medicine, or decoration. They bring a lot of money for the hunter. Thus, they hunted all including immature animals. That make animals do not have time to recover in time lead to mass extinction of rare species in the world. For example, a recent catastrophic mass extinction took place at Lake Victoria, the longest lake in Africa. The mass extinction seems to happen more quickly by the people. â€Å"Nile† tilapia species can be up to 2m long and weighing up to 60kg, providing resources for export. In short, excessive hunting is main cause of extinction of animals. Summary, the animals are extinct too much.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚     Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The title of this play is â€Å"Julius Caesar.† This play was written by William Shakespeare in the past. The play involves many different characters, events, and emotional feelings.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Mark Antony is a skillful orator because he has experience, knows how to sway the mob, and knows how to keep them on his side and how to persuade them.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Antony is a very skillful orator. Throughout the speeches that were given by Antony, he proved this statement. He used multiple methods to achieve the feelings of the crowd. For example, he would say a line or two and then cry and stop talking. Dur g this time, he would listen to the crowd’s emotions and go from there. Antony would rile up the crowd, making them furious, holding them back, then making them even more furious once again. He would continue this until he thought they were angry enou to do what he pleases.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Antony points out in his speech dictating that he is loyal to Caesar as dictator and as a friend. Following the killing of Caesar, Antony quickly grasps that he must deal with Brutus, and he has the shrewdness to take advantage of Brutus’s naivetà ©. H repeats many lines over and over again being sarcastic.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Antony also uses half-truths and outright falsehoods to sway the mob to do what he wants. Antony repeats the line â€Å"but they were honorable men† multiple times referring to all of the conspirators. This, of course, was Antony’s sarcastic side.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Another special technique Antony uses to sway the mob is by holding Caesar’s will. He would say that he’s not sure if he should read it, which then stirred up the mob making them anxious, while Antony was getting the mob onto his side. Eventually, th will was read and the mob was emotionally riled up.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Also, Antony had Caesar’s body brought out and sat down. He told the mob to gather in a circle around him and Caesar’s body.

Ecological Debt Repaid through Awareness and Commitment Essay

At this age of technological advancements, where people are more likely inclined with the latest technical and industrial innovations, the most modern gadgets, the cyber world itself, the group believes that a public service message posted to social-networking sites, like Facebook, would reach out with its millions of users; teen-agers, civilians, and people from all walks of life, who are still unaware of the impacts and dangers that humanity would face because of our ecological debt and neglect. Now that man is getting more engaged with a computerized and scientific world, the preservation of the earth’s innate form is often situated at stake. For instance, land developers aim to civilize mountain and forested areas in view of larger residential communities, neglecting the extinction of species and the degradation of their habitats in that area. In the same way, roads and tunnels are logged to provide efficient trips in woody regions, unaware of the affected species due to construction. It should be realized that in the context of global progress, biodiversity should not be sacrificed. Biodiversity is about making sense of the variation of life on earth, and its fundamental unit is the species. Why is there a must to conserve biodiversity? It is mainly because it affects mankind by all means. Outstandingly, biodiversity has an incontestable subsistence value. Remember that the species we use for our herbal medicinal needs, the plant and animal species that we eat, and the other species we use for our consumption, all contributes to biodiversity’s value for human survival. Biodiversity also has an economic value; the productive use it imposes into our market. In addition, it provides service value, like tourism benefits for a region where a certain specie is  endemic. But most importantly, biodiversity has to be conserved because of its intrinsic value. By the principle of Biocentrism: All species are worth of moral consideration. Humans have an obligation to protect them (Do or Die, 1999). We should be grateful for nature because it provides us our basic needs, water, food, air, even which the greatest engineering cannot tantamount. All of us have an ecological debt we can never repay fully, but we could somehow pay its interest, that is by preserving biodiversity. There are two modes of payments: In Situ and Ex Situ. In Situ is the maintenance of biodiversity in the wild, by allowing the species to continue their aboriginal evolutionary interactions (Reid, 1989, para.1). The species are left to be free and to continue their way of survival without any human intervention. This is a general and efficient solution that is left to the hands of government officials or organizations for strict implementations. But as part of the human race, we should be aware of the creation of such law and support it whole-heartedly. Many of our local or indigenous fellowmen would still continue the hunting or harvesting of the endangered species due to lack of knowledge or opportunities; thus, there should be thorough promotion of In Situ throughout the nation. On the other hand, Ex Situ is the maintenance of wild or domesticated species in home gardens, orchards, aquaria, zoos, or laboratories. These sites provide home for viable populations of threatened species, also providing areas for research, educational and public awareness (Reid, 1989, para.1). Indeed, there are several solutions man could engage to if we really want to hinder more biodiversity losses. We could grow endemic plants in our region in our own backyards. Every time we go to a beach, we must remember not to take souvenir seashells or corals with us. We should refute groups that do  activities leading to biodiversity losses. Or join movements which promote awareness and commitment in saving the earth’s biodiversity. Spread the information of biodiversity’s importance. All of us can make a difference. The move should start today before we reap the wrath of nature’s revenge. Change does not happen overnight, neither does it occur one-time big-time. The restoration of our ecosystems does not depend only on politicians or environmentalists, simple steps should be made by simple citizens, like you.
